B.C. Greens continue to break fundraising records in homestretch of campaign

October 22, 2020

VICTORIA B.C. – With only 2 days until election day, and just a week after breaking previous records, the B.C. Greens are announcing a significant new fundraising threshold has been reached.

Since Sonia Furstenau became leader, the B.C. Greens have raised over $834,750 in the last 38 days. This shatters the fundraising results from the last election when the party raised a similar amount in a 5 month period stretching from January 1 to May 9, 2017.

“It is so humbling to see this support from British Columbians,” said Sonia Furstenau. “Nothing we have accomplished so far in this campaign — or hope to accomplish going forward — is possible without the tireless work of supporters, volunteers, and of course the contributions of donors.”

This new record adds to a growing number of fundraising records and milestones that BC Greens have achieved this election, including:

  • More than doubling the best previous month over the last 30 days;

  • More than doubling what was raised in the 2017 writ period;

  • Raising more than ¾ million since the start of the writ period;

  • Over 46% of our donors since Furstenau was elected leader are first-time donors.

“For the past five weeks, I’ve been working hard to give people a vision and a party to vote for,” Furstenau continued.

“The B.C. Greens have put forth a positive vision for a more equitable and sustainable province. It’s very rewarding to see that our plan is resonating. The challenges before us require collaboration and a solutions-oriented approach. The B.C. Greens are ready to return to the Legislature to keep focusing on delivering results on the issues facing British Columbians.

“As British Columbians go to the polls, they have another opportunity to ensure we don’t go back to the divisive two-party system of the pre-2017 era and instead keep pushing forward with building a more productive approach to politics in this province.”
