VICTORIA, B.C. – B.C. Green MLAs Andrew Weaver (Oak Bay-Gordon Head and party leader), Sonia Furstenau (Cowichan Valley) and Adam Olsen (Saanich North and the Islands) are heading to communities across the province to promote the caucus’ accomplishments, and to gather input to inform the MLAs’ work in the upcoming Fall legislative sitting.
“I’m incredibly proud of what our caucus has accomplished in the spring session in the legislature,” said Weaver.
“We have much to celebrate, including the passing of Bill M209: Business Amendment Corporations Act — our first ever BC Green bill and the first opposition private member’s bill in B.C. history to pass. As well as the passing of the Residential Tenancy Amendment Act, which provides tenants with the ability to end their fixed-term lease if staying in the rental unit is a threat to their safety or security.
These bills represent the value of a minority government to bring about good public policy for the benefit of all British Columbians and these events are about building on that into the Fall and further down the road. We are particularly interested in having conversations about the clean economy, innovation and forestry this summer.”
The MLAs will be participating in roughly 40 events from June to September. Here is the list of July events*:

The events are hosted by the B.C. Green Party’s local associations, which allow B.C. Greens to hold official events, recruit new supporters, fundraise, support our MLAs, and select the B.C. Green candidate in the riding for the next provincial election.
This is the second year the party’s local associations have put on a summer event series. In 2018, the MLAs travelled to 11 different communities, drawing hundreds of people from across B.C.
The party’s local associations cover 32 ridings across the province, with other associations in formation that will cover an additional 15 ridings.
Media are welcome to attend the individual events.
