VICTORIA, B.C. – Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, issued the following statement in celebration of the Lunar New Year:
“Today millions across British Columbia and around the world are gathering with family and friends to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
“This occasion marks the end of the Year of the Dog and the arrival of the Year of the Pig. It is a time to reflect upon the blessings that we have received this past year, and a time to look forward to the new prosperity that comes with spring.
“The Lunar New Year is a holiday celebrated by people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Its vibrant traditions and festivities fill us with hope and I am honoured to witness communities across our province come together in celebration.
“On behalf of my colleagues I would like to wish all those celebrating a peaceful and happy New Year.
