August 16, 2018

VICTORIA B.C. – B.C. Green Party MLAs Andrew Weaver, Sonia Furstenau and Adam Olsen are embarking on a province-wide tour to engage with British Columbians about the issues affecting them and their communities. The purpose of the Forums is to review the work done in the first year since the MLAs signed a Confidence and Supply Agreement to support the B.C. NDP minority government, and to gather input for the MLA’s work in the upcoming Fall legislative sitting.

The tour will include stops in the following locations:

  • Furstenau will host a forum in New Westminster on August 19
  • Weaver, Furstenau and Olsen will host a forum in Victoria on August 22
  • Olsen and Furstenau will host a forum in Gibsons on August 23
  • Olsen will host a forum in West Vancouver on August 24
  • Olsen will host a forum in Kamloops on August 25
  • Furstenau will host a forum on the East Shore (Kootenay Lake) on August 27
  • Furstenau will host a forum in Kaslo on August 28
  • Weaver will host a forum in Nanaimo on September 6
  • Furstenau also visited Prince George in July

The events are open to media and MLAs are available for one-on-one interviews upon request. Detailed information on the events is available at

“The incredible increase in support we saw in 2017 shows there is a big appetite for fresh ideas in B.C. politics. Adam, Sonia and I are looking forward to speaking with British Columbians about the work we have done in the first year of the minority government and the future they want for their province.” - Andrew Weaver, Leader, B.C. Green Party

“B.C. is a diverse province and each community has unique concerns. Engaging with citizens on the ground is essential for informing our work as the Third Party in the legislature and for ensuring our role supporting the minority government advances the interests of all British Columbians.” - Sonia Furstenau, Deputy Leader, B.C. Green Party

“My first year in the Legislature demonstrated how much work there is to be done to set B.C. up for success in the 21st century. Our province and our world are facing major political, economic and demographic shifts. I believe B.C. is well-placed to seize the opportunities arising from these shifts, but we need to constantly be engaging British Columbians in that process. I’m excited to talk to British Columbians about how we can keep moving forward.” - Adam Olsen, B.C. Green MLA, Saanich North and the Island
