Allow Filtering for Motorcycles

With the increase of accidents caused by distracted driving, motorcycles being rear ended is a major concern. It has been proven that filtering saves motorcyclist lives. Please look into introducing legislation to allow filtering for motorcycles.

This kind of support for motorcycles, along with more liberal parking rules (parking on sidewalk, etc. like in most countries, allowing motorcycles to use bus lanes) would encourage people to use motorcycles as a means of transport, making more space and burning less fuel.

As a rider who came within inches of being rear-ended by an inattentive car driver, in stopped traffic on the Second Narrows Bridge, I wholeheartedly support lane-filtering. It radically reduces the vulnerability of motorcyclists in slow moving\stopped traffic situations, whilst actually helping all road users, by allowing motorcyclists to eliminate their vehicles from the congestion. Numerous other jurisdictions have legalized lane-filtering – BC and Canada as a whole should do likewise, for safety’s sake.

Several of my friends and family members ride motorcycles, including both my parents and my husband. They are very skilled, very aware riders, but that does not mean that the roads are safe. With so many distracted, unaware drivers, I worry more and more about the safety of the ones I love.

Please make this a priority. Riding in the city (Vancouver) is dangerous, help make it safer

It’s the safest alternative to being rear ended in stop and go traffic

Canada is the only country i can think of where this is illegal. Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, Australia, California…. Everyone does it, it’s proven to be safer.

As someone who has never ridden a motorcycle on the street, I am in full support of this proposal.

Filtering will help to relieve congestion and will provide incentive for more people to ride.

This, in turn will help to reduce pollution generated by cars.
