VICTORIA B.C. – The B.C. Green Party released the rules for its upcoming leadership contest today, which will take place from Jan. 6 to Jun. 27, 2020.

Appointment of interim leader deferred two weeks

VICTORIA B.C. – Sat Harwood, Chair of B.C. Green Party Provincial Council, released the following statement regarding the appointment of an interim leader:

“Provincial Council has deferred the appointment of the party’s interim leader to a meeting in two weeks,” Harwood said. “This extension allows the council to consult with stakeholders who could not be reached this past week. We continue to be on track with plans for the leadership contest and expect the rules for the contest to be published at the same time as the interim leader is announced.”

Weaver statement on 30th anniversary of Montreal Massacre

VICTORIA B.C. – B.C. Green Party leader Andrew Weaver released the following statement on the this year’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women:

“Today marks 30 years since 14 women were killed in a massacre at École Polytechnique in Montreal,” Weaver said. “That day has been forever implanted in my mind. I was near the McGill University Hospital when I heard many ambulances arriving there. It was on the way home that I heard the tragic news on the radio.”
