The BC Green Party is seeking a full-time permanent Financial Administrator.

The successful candidate will be organized, able to work under tight deadlines, a good communicator and share the values and principles of the BC Green Party.

The Financial Administrator reports to the Executive Director of the BC Green Party, and is responsible for all bookkeeping and financial reporting of the party, as well as reporting for province-wide campaigns, and riding associations.

Responsibilities 

  • Record all contributions made to the BC Green Party, in accordance with the Elections Act and Elections BC guidelines
  • Conduct financial activities including preparation of financial statements, budgets, forecasts, financial management reports and financial analysis of all operations
  • Ensuring timely monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting, and timely bank reporting for CRA requirements such as GST, Payroll tax, CPP, EI
  • Perform month-end closing, including multiple account reconciliations
  • Conduct and oversee all AP functions, as well as AR functions outside of regular contributions, including cashflow management
  • Conduct and process payroll functions on bi-weekly basis
  • Conduct implementation of processes and controls and produce appropriate documentation
  • Act as a direct liaison with third parties (for example auditors and Elections BC)
  • Identify and implement cost saving opportunities
  • Ensure ongoing accuracy and quality of data/information within the accounting department, and in the general database, shared with Supporter Services
  • Responsible for related transfers of funds between the party and campaigns and riding associations

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in the accounting/financial field
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate intermediate level proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with accounting software
  • Basic knowledge of payroll and source deductions
  • Ability to learn new software systems quickly
  • Functional knowledge of office suite and Google Apps
  • Successful completion of a criminal records check

Desirable Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelors in Business Administration (or currently completing)
  • Experience with Quickbooks Desktop Pro
  • Experience with Transaction Pro Importer
  • Driver’s License and own vehicle
