February 14, 2017

VICTORIA B.C. – The B.C. Green Party is pleased to announce the nomination of its candidate for Victoria-Swan Lake, Chris Maxwell. Maxwell is an Associate Professor, scientist and co-lead of the childhood cancer and blood research group at B.C. Children’s Hospital.

“I was born and raised in the Victoria-Swan Lake area and I am running because I believe our democracy requires that we engage and push for our rights and privileges”, Maxwell said. “I am proud to engage with the B.C. Green Party, a political movement powered by musicians, scientists, artists, CEOs, and neighbors, and to push with the B.C. Green Party for evidence-based policies, economy and ethics, education and citizenship in B.C.. I look forward to working in the Legislative Assembly for the people of Victoria-Swan Lake and the province of B.C..”

“Chris is an exceptional candidate who has stepped up to help lead our province into a new era”, added Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party. “He understands how the B.C. Liberal government has put political calculation and partisan games over evidence-based decision-making. I am delighted he is joining our B.C. Green team to put people ahead of special interests in the B.C. legislature.”
