On behalf of the BC Green Party, I would like to extend our warmest wishes to those celebrating Chinese New Year here in British Columbia and around the world.
Chinese New Year marks the most important Chinese Holiday. On this holiday, families and communities come together celebrate the Year of the Horse. The 15 day celebration is also an opportunity to reflect on the past and look forward with hope. In British Columbia and around the world we are facing climate and economic challenges that affect everyone, but these challenges can unite us all, as we work towards solutions together.
We must recognize and acknowledge the tremendous contributions by members of the Chinese community to British Columbia. The Chinese-Canadian community is strongest here in British Columbia largely as a result of the tremendous efforts of organizations within the Chinese community to promote community participation, cultural awareness and the strength of diversity. These values can be shared by all British Columbians and are essential to building a sustainable and prosperous British Columbia.
May the Year of the Horse bring you good fortune and prosperity!
