VICTORIA B.C. – Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, issued the following statement in response to the evacuation of 3,600 people near 100 Mile House, B.C. due to wildfires:
“My thoughts are with those affected by wildfires in the southern Cariboo region,” Weaver said. “I urge British Columbians to respect evacuation orders and alerts, and to follow the direction of local officials.
“I thank the brave members of the B.C. Wildfire Response team for their diligent work protecting our communities. I hope that all those affected are able to safely return to their homes at the earliest possible opportunity. “
