B.C. Green Party recognizes World Water Day

March 22, 2017

VICTORIA B.C. – “On World Water Day - and every day - we need to reflect on the importance of water for all aspects of our lives,” said Sonia Furstenau, B.C. Green Party Deputy Leader and candidate for Cowichan Valley.

“In B.C., the government has failed to recognize that protecting water is a duty, and communities across the province, including Quesnel Lake, Shawnigan Lake and Spallumcheen have suffered. We need a strong regulatory framework that will make the Water Sustainability Act effective, we need to move towards co-governance of watersheds with First Nations and local communities and we need to ensure that long-term water protection is a priority all all levels of government.”

To recognize World Water Day, Sonia Furstenau published a video on Facebook.

"We must be stewards and role models to the world when it comes to protecting this precious resource,” added Mark Neufeld, B.C. Greens candidate for Saanich South, who also published his own video to commemorate World Water Day.
