B.C. Green Party condemns threat to Jewish Community Centre

March 08, 2017

VICTORIA B.C. - The B.C. Green Party is horrified to learn of the bomb threat made to the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver late last night. Although the threat turned out to be a hoax, any kind of threat of violence against the Jewish community must be condemned in the strongest terms.

“I am so relieved that everyone at the JCC is safe,” said Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party. “This comes on the heels of proliferating violent threats against the Jewish community in the United States, Canada and across the world. British Columbia must stand together in condemning anti-Semitism and all forms of racism, xenophobia, ethnocentrism, hatred and discrimination. B.C. must be a place where all people can live in peace and security without fear of persecution for their identity. Our diversity is our strength and I will not stop fighting to defend this integral value.”

The B.C. Green party holds the principles of nonviolence, respect for diversity and social justice at its core and will continue to advocate for policies that further their full realization in British Columbia.
